I have had this grill for over a year now and I am very happy with it. I have never used the raclette trays so I have no opinion of that function, but it is the only grill I have ever owned that gets hot enough to really cook a steak hot and fast. The finish has held up well, and I use it all the time. I like the way that the grease and drippings drain into the base. It cleans up well, and I have put the whole thing (minus the electronics) into the dishwasher.
I was looking for a grill/ griddle that wouldn’t take up too much space in my kitchen. This fits the bill well. It is dishwasher safe (except for the electrical control cord), cooks up to 4 chicken breasts, 6 hamburgers or 3 LARGE paninis. Flip it over and you have a griddle for sausage, eggs, pancakes.
A downside is the Raclette. I was not able to get the cheese hot enough to brown, and my partner was disappointed in the amount of cheese the cups hold. Since we don’t make this kind of dish often, I would still HIGHLY recommend it.
One tip, leave the metal plate under the grill/ griddle and line the base with foil to help with clean up.
Back in April, I was looking for stove-top grill when I came across this electric griddle and grill on the amazon website. I thought it would be ideal because not only was it a dual device but it was compact and supposedly easy to use. I always check reviews, just in case, and was disappointed to find that they were pretty bad. However, since it was available at target and being an ex-employee I knew that if I was not completely happy with the Flip-Grill target would take it back, I decided to take the chance on it.
Now, I use the flip-grill more than twice a week. Set up and everyday use is incredibly easy. A probe is the heating element and gets very hot, however, it is excellent to cook with. I find relatively even heating, of course it is slightly hotter by the probe and less hot on the opposite end, but just cook accordingly. The griddle makes excellent grilled cheese, quesadillas, hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, pancakes and frenchtoast. I use the grill side pretty often for chicken, grilling vegetables, steaks, burgers etc. It is perfect to make full breakfasts (for two people at a time) or quick lunches, or grilled dinners. And to top it all off, you can put the grill-griddle in the dishwasher.
I have not used it for Raclette, and I can see that if that is why you bought this and it doesn’t work it would be upsetting. However, if you just want a decent grill/griddle that is compact yet powerful with easy clean up at a reasonable price then this is definitely worth a shot.
Saw the website regarding the flip grill and then went and saw very mixed reviews. Some very negative and some very positive. Evidently the manufacturing of this grill is not watched very well. Overlooking the negatives I went to buy this grill. The on light went on for about a millisecond and went off. There were many open boxes at Target and I thought getting one of the few sealed boxes would be a plus. The product although a good idea doesn’t work so it is useless to me I will go back and try another one but I don’t have my hopes up to high.
Living in an apartment makes grilling meals difficult. After craving burgers all summer, I finally broke down and bought this handy indoor grill. So far, we’ve made several meals on this grill. We use it a few times a week. Works great for chicken and hamburgers…flavor is good and doesn’t dry out the meats. Also, used it for breakfast to make the french toast that comes in the recipe booklet (heavy for breakfast, but sooo good!) Clean up is a breeze as well. This a kitchen product I wouldn’t trade!
